Proactive people vs. Reactive business

We want people to be proactive; to stay ahead of the curve and ahead of the game.  This doesn’t work very well for a lot of businesses and organizations though.

We need to stay ahead of this problem!

Businesses are better at being reactive.  They need to be able to change direction fast, move with the customer, change with technology or whatever.  So what do most big companies do when their employees try to be proactive?

Toyota mounts Honda. "Uh, my accelerator just stuck..."

That’s right, they wait for government intervention.
