There is something really satisfying about the rhythmic crackle of waves on a gravel (pebble) beach. This one is in the eastern San Juan Islands, shot an hour or so after sunrise. “Private Property” signs all over the place, and even a section of barbed wire above the rise, but no house or shack for miles.
This private cove was just north of Eagle Harbor on the east side of Cypress Island. Probably the most underrated of the San Juans, the forest has reclaimed every inch stolen by loggers a hundred years ago. Great hiking, and yes, plenty of Bald Eagles.
